A Brief Biography
Lisa Makstein, a licensed certified clinical social worker, has been a psychotherapist in private practice for nearly 30 years. Ms. Makstein graduated with honors in 1976 with a B.A. in Psychology from the University of Michigan. In 1979, she received her Master’s degree from the University of Maryland School of Social Work and is a licensed clinical social worker in Maryland and Virginia.
In her generic practice, Ms. Makstein counsels individual children, adolescents, adults, couples and families. In addition, she leads personal growth groups for mothers as well as adult psychotherapy groups focusing on helping men and women learn how to create successful relationships in their lives.
Additionally, Ms. Makstein’s background includes training in collaborative divorce coaching, a process that helps couples sever their marital bonds amicably and avoid going to court.
Ms. Makstein is a member of The National Association of Social Workers (NASW), The American Academy of Psychotherapists (AAP), and the International Academy of Collaborative Professionals (IACP).
